Lip Service with No Action

Wisdom for Today

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men. Isaiah 29:13

You say with your lips, Lord, I love you. But what do your actions say. God understands and He is a forgiving God. Yes, He is but He doesn’t like sin. You say I will keep all the commands, but which ones have you recently broken? We say a lot of things to God, but do we really mean them or is it just lip service. What’s so important that you can’t give God all of you? Many people today are indecisive about living for God and serving Him. Which do you prefer, a life of pleasure or a life that’s pleasing to the Father? Why would you want to gain the whole world and then lose your soul?

There’s a knock at the door (knock, knock). Who is it? Jesus. Jesus?! Jesus, I’ll be right there. Oh my goodness hid the porn tapes and books. Put the big bible on the coffee table. Turn off Lil’ Wayne and put on some praise and worship music. Turn the TV off. Coming Jesus! I didn’t know you were stopping by today, come on in. Hello, my child. Hi Jesus, I wish I would have known you were stopping by, I would have prepared for your visit. Child, I wanted to personally stop by to say, it’s time to change. Change from your wicked ways. Jesus, I am not wicked. Child, anything that’s not like Me is wicked. Change the way you talk because your lip service doesn’t line up with My Word. You say you love Me, but your heart is far from me. You say you honor Me, but your life tells a different story. You say, you’ll serve me, but you rather serve and fulfill the desires of your own heart. Jesus, I am sorry. Child I know you are, but I had to make a special visit before it is too late. Too late, what do you mean? Today is the day to make a change because I never promised you tomorrow.

Wow, what if Jesus really came by to pay you a visit? What would He find in your heart? Would you be on your best behavior? Would you say all the right things? Would you make sure everything is right? This really makes you think. Well guess what, Jesus never has to stop by, because he’s always with you. Right there in your heart to remind you to live according to His Word. Jesus already knows if His children are portraying his love and peace to the world. The question is, will Jesus be pleased and honored with everything He finds in your heart?

Have a Beautiful Day
